Eggplant - Mitoyo
I got these seeds from Baker Creek. Said to be one of the tastiest varieties available, Mitoyo stands out for it's deep purple, practically black appearance, even the crown and stem are black on these! They're so sweet you can eat them raw, and even when they're over-ripe for seed saving, they still don't get bitter. Eggplants have thin skin and average somewhere from baseball or softball size to the size of the commercial ones you'd find in the local grocery store. They average 10-16 ounces each, but may get smaller toward the end of the season. Expect good production from this variety. Use them raw, or you can cook, bake, roast, or pickle them. This is a Japanese variety. Plants grow 3-4 feet tall.
