Pepper - Albanian Red Hot
I got these seeds from PepperLover.com. Albanian Red Hot (AKA Aci Kirmizi Arnavut) is a Capsicum Annuum with "embroidered" skin and a distinct earthy mushroom aroma. It can get quite large, 7-10 inches, though some sites claim even bigger specimens. The Albanian Red Hot is similar visually to Rheza Macedonia, but they are distinctly different when you taste them. The Albanian Red Hot is said to be in the 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville range, but several reviews have said it's no hotter than a jalapeno (2,500 - 8,000 Scoville range). Since I have not grown these yet, I'm not sure which is correct. It appears that PepperLover is the original commercial source for these peppers and they are meant to have a milder heat and stronger flavor. Everyone who's tried Albanian Red Hot boasts of the complex flavor that makes it one of the best peppers available.
