Pepper - Chocolate Bhut Jolokia
I don't remember if I got these seeds through a trade or if I bought them somewhere. Chocolate Bhut Jolokia (sometimes called Chocolate Ghost Pepper) is commercially available. This is a Capsicum Chinense. These are super hot peppers and do require a little extra care. They're slow to germinate, even for a super hot, and tend to require a bit of heat underneath to get seeds to sprout. Even with heat it can take weeks to germinate. They take their time ripening too, so it may not be a good option for short season growers unless you have a greenhouse. This chocolate colored pepper is a natural variation of the red Bhut Jolokia, but is said to be sweeter. Beware though, these peppers can be over 1,000,000 on the Scoville chart! Bhut Jolokia was the first pepper to break 1,000,000 on the Scoville chart, but that was back in 2007. It is no longer the world record holder for hottest pepper. Chocolate Bhut Jolokia peppers are 2-2.5 inches long, and can be grown in a large pot or bucket.
