Pepper - Elephant
I bought these seeds from Vertiloom. Elephant peppers are embroidered, meaning the outer skin gets an interesting texture, similar to Farmer's Jalapeno or Rheza Macedonian. Elephant is not the same as Elephant Trunk (which is not embroidered). I found it harder to find information on this variety given the name is similar to an eco-tourism location in Kenya. Elephant peppers are an heirloom from Macedonia, where they are called "Vezena Piperka" which translates to "embroidered chili." Six inch peppers grow on plants up to 40 inches tall, and are dark red with heavy embroidering when fully ripe. These are a milder variety at 2,500 - 5,000 Scoville units. The only use reference I could find suggested grilling them due to their firm texture (no doubt from the embroidery).
I could not find any information on maturity time.
