Pepper - Gabi Hot Wax
I got these seeds from Adaptive Seeds. Gabi Hot Wax is a Hungarian commercial variety that produces peppers that are 50-80% larger than other Hungarian hot wax types. These peppers do well even in cooler temperatures and are productive. Peppers start out lime green and mature to orange and then dark red. It's a good keeper once they're picked and offer a mild to medium heat level (I could not find a Scoville rating for this variety). The seed company suggests using Gabi Hot Wax in its green form sauteed as a topping, or in its red form dried and crushed into a mildly spicy paprika. It seems that Adaptive is the only commercial source within the US for this variety.
