Pepper - Goat Horn
I got these seeds from Pepperlover.com. They list these seeds as having a Turkish origin (Turk Keci boynuzu - translated to mean Turkish Goat Horn). In researching it, I've also found it referred to as Sweet Spanish Long, and it is in the USDA germplasm collection (PI321003 - Goat's Horn) as coming from Taiwan. I suspect there may be a couple varieties by the same name because I found references to 20,000 Scoville and 50,000 Scoville unites for a heat level. What everyone seems to agree on is that these Capsicum annuum peppers are incredibly productive and are quite hot. They ripen from green to red on 2-3 foot tall plants (though I did find one reference to a four foot plant grown in California). They can be grown in containers. These thin skinned, medium walled peppers are good for drying and using as a powder in addition to cooking. The flavor, as described by my seed source, is "sweet with a fast building, long-lasting heat." These peppers grow 4-6 inches in length and seem to resemble green beans in their shape and width.
