Pepper - Hungarian Banana Sweet
I got these seeds in a trade. Not to be mistaken for Hungarian Wax peppers (which are much hotter), these mild Capsicum annuum peppers also go by other names - Hungarian Sweet Wax, Hungarian Sweet Pepper, Sweet Banana, Banana Chile, Yellow Wax, and Long Sweet Hungarian. The peppers grow 6 inches long by 1-1/2 inches wide and curve like a banana. They start out a lemony green color and mature through yellow and orange to eventually be red. They get sweeter as they get more mature. With a Scoville range of 0-500, these peppers are good for pickling, frying, stuffing, freezing, or fresh eating. They are an All-American Selections winner, but I found different resources claiming that win was in 1938 or 1941. I'm not sure which is correct. These plants are productive! Anticipate 25-30 peppers per plant. I found different information regarding how big these plants grow. One source claims 16-24 inches, while another boasts 42 inches tall. That's quite a difference, but I couldn't find a third reference to confirm or deny one or the other.
