Pepper - Hungarian Wax
I got these seeds from Trade Winds Fruit, San Diego Seed Company, and from a couple of trades. This Capsicum annuum goes by several names, including Hungarian Wax, Yellow Hungarian Wax, Hot Wax, Hot Yellow, Hungarian Hot, Hungarian Yellow Hot Wax, and Hungarian Yellow Wax. Not to be confused with Hungarian Banana Peppers (a much milder, but similar looking variety), the Hungarian Wax peppers are 5,000 - 10,000 Scoville units. Growing on 2-3+ foot tall plants, these peppers start out green and turn to yellow, then orange, and mature to red. They get hotter with every color change. Peppers are 4-6 inches long and are produced at about 10-15 peppers per plant. Use these peppers for pickling, cooking, roasting, stuffing, or fresh eating. A good heirloom variety for shorter season growers.
