Pepper - King of the North
I got these seeds from a local store. I couldn't resist the Game of Thrones reference, but it turns out these seeds have been around much longer than the books have. King of the North is a Capsicum annuum sweet bell pepper that is especially good for northern gardeners, or those with short or cooler growing seasons. I did find mixed reviews on how sturdy this plant is. Many seed vendors claim it's a strong plant that can hold itself up, but many grower reviews claim it needs to be staked, and even with proper support, the peppers can take entire branches off during especially windy days or in heavy rain. Peppers start green and ripen to red, measuring 6 inches by 4 inches they have 3-4 lobes. King of the North is said to be a heavy producer, but despite the 2-3 foot growth average, it does not like to be in containers. This one needs to be grown in the ground (or in a raised bed). The thick walls of this pepper and the large size make it a good option for stuffing, but it's also good eaten fresh.
