Pepper - Machu Picchu
I bought these seeds from Vertiloom. Machu Picchu is a Capsicum chinense variety from Peru (South America). This variety gives you options. If you grow it in a pot or container, the plant will stay small and will produce peppers earlier in the season. If you plant it in the ground, the plant will get much larger, and you'll have higher production, but it will take much longer to produce peppers. For short season growers, container growing is recommended. Machu Picchu peppers start dark green and ripen to a dark brown. Their rich smoky flavor comes with 10,000 - 15,000 Scoville units of heat. Plants are 24-40 inches tall, but can be pruned to as little as eight inches and reportedly still produce peppers. Peppers are 5-7 cm (2-3 inches) or 8-10 cm (3-4 inches) depending on the source of information. They are used fresh or dried for powder.
I could not find information on maturity, likely due to the vast differences between container and in-ground growing.
