Pepper - Poinsettia
I got these seeds from an online auction. I think there may be two different peppers going by the name of Poinsettia. I have seen photos and descriptions of peppers than mature from green to red, and ones that mature from green to whitish yellow to orange to red. Beyond the different color maturity the descriptions seem identical. Peppers are 3 inches long by 1/2 inch wide, borne upwards on 16-24 inch tall plants. Considered an ornamental, these pepper can be grown in containers. They can produce upwards of 100 peppers per plant. This variety hails from Japan and is also called Japanese Hot Claw. I found one reference that claimed it may be the same as another Japanese variety called Takanotsume. This is a Capsicum annuum with thin flesh and a significant amount of heat. I could not find an actual number for a Scoville heat rating for Poinsettia peppers.
