Pepper - Shishito
I got these seeds from Select Seeds. Shishito is a Japanese heirloom pepper. Though it ripens from green to red, it is almost exclusively eaten green, with the most popular preparation being to blister or char it with olive oil and salt. While generally considered a mild pepper, about 1-10% may have a little heat behind it, more likely when red than green. These can be grown in containers, but it will reduce your yield potential. Most reviews I found said the plants stayed 1-2 feet tall and produced an abundance of 3" long peppers, though a few reported plants over 3 feet tall. The plants reportedly have both heat tolerance and some cold tolerance. One source said this pepper also goes by the name "Chinese Lion."
