Pepper - Sweet Chocolate
I got these seeds from The Living Seed Company. This unique sweet pepper is shaped like an elongated bell pepper. Three lobes stretch 3-4 inches long and 2-1/2 inches wide. Many of the descriptions indicate a medium to thick fleshed pepper, but several reviews report thin flesh. These plants get 3-4 feet tall and would do best with support or staking. Sweet Chocolate (also called Choco) is a 1965 release from the University of New Hampshire. It tolerates cooler nights making it ideal for Northern gardeners or those in shorter season growing areas. Use these peppers in salads or stir fry, stuffed, or on the grill. Almost all of the reviews I could find agree that this pepper has a superior flavor to other sweet peppers. These mature from green to a dark cola red to chocolate brown. The flesh underneath is brick red when fully ripe.
