Cucumber - Boothby's Blonde
I got these seeds from The Living Seed Company. A family heirloom from the Boothby family in Livermore, Maine (USA). After reading dozens of descriptions and reviews for this variety, it seems the one word to best describe it would be "tasty." Pale yellow cucumbers grow 3-5 inches long (best picked at 4 inches), and can be grown in containers. With high production rates, you'll have plenty to pickle. They are especially good as sweet pickles (particularly bread and butter pickles). You can also eat them sliced and raw. They have thin skin, so they don't need to be peeled, and remain sweet and crisp, even when pickled. Their light yellow color makes them easy to find and pick. The black spines are an interesting contrast on the otherwise pale fruit. These will get yellow as they get bigger, but then the seed cavity tends to take over most of the inside, so try to pick them before they start to darken.
