Pepper - Manzano
I got these seeds from an auction website. Manzano means "apple" in Spanish. These peppers are golf ball sized and round, maturing from green to a yellow/orange color, sometimes with a hint of red. A member of Capsicum pubescens, this pepper has black seeds and the plant has furry leaves. Manzano can be difficult to cultivate as it prefers cooler temperatures (50-60 degrees Fahrenheit) which is can get in its native Andes Mountains in South America. If you can get it to grow, it can vine up to 15 feet and can be trellised as long as your low temperatures stay above 50*F. The peppers have thick walls and a decidedly citrus flavor that comes with some heat (12,000 to 50,000 Scoville units).
I was not able to find a maturity time range for this variety.
